THE FOUNDING LEADERS

Paul & Mary Dennison
When we tentatively opened the door of our home over 40 years ago in order to meet local Christians it was because God had birthed in us a desire to pioneer something new and different on the island. Because we’re passionate about Christianity being a life to be lived to the full in the way Jesus intended we believe there’s nothing more exciting then passing on a revelation from God’s word and teaching it’s relevance to our lives today in a way that people can relate to and understand.
We especially wanted those with no faith to hear, for the first time, just how much God loves them and to understand how we all fit into his story. Creating an environment for God’s presence has been paramount in all we do and as we look back now, God in his faithfulness has done far more than we could ever have imagined.
Having led the church for 40 years we felt a change was long overdue and the church is currently looking for new leaders following our 'retirement' at the end of April 2026. We are confident The Bridge Church will continue to be blessed and be a blessing in our community and we are excited about what God has in store for them.
When Chris walked into the church in 2022 we loved him immediately and he has recently completed a leadership course preparing him for what we believe is a great future. Below is a little more about Chris in his own words.
The Pathway Leadership Course is something I would never have believed possible for me to be doing, especially coming from the life I lived before as a child and a young man. The things I have been through growing up, and things I was involved in and subjected to in life, abuse, violence, drugs and crime etc. After being saved on more than one occasion by God's grace intruding in my life, always when things were most bleak, I felt compelled to be baptised. I finally found The Bridge Church, a place that is not your typical church and building I felt excluded from when trying to find somewhere to go. They welcomed me in without any judgement and never flinched when telling my life story. In fact they allowed me to heal and grow, and now I am undertaking a course so that hopefully I too can help others from my sort of background.
